Circuit Judge Vernon Miniard Junior took action on several cases in
Wayne Circuit Court Tuesday, July 20th including Krochett Dehaai,
Pamela Winfrey Coffey, Tommy Steven Bell, Brian Daniels, Richard
Earl Smith Junior, Don Coffey and Karen Coffey.
Krochett Dehaai pleaded guilty to Burglary, Kidnapping An Adult,
and four counts of Wanton Endangerment in connection with a home
invasion on East 92 and stand off with law enforcement officials.
A sentence of 15 years was recommended and the final sentencing
will be held on August 17th.
Pamela Winfrey Coffey entered a plea of guilty of to several theft
by unlawful taking charges in connection with thousands of dollars
allegedly being taken from Holston Gases, formerly Ken Gas of
Monticello. A pre-trial diversion hearing was set for August 17th.
Circuit Judge Miniard set a trial date of March 2nd and 3rd for Tommy
Steven Bell who was charged with Robbery, Burglary, Theft By
Unlawful Taking and Persistent Felony Offender in connection with
an incident at a Barber Shop on Michigan Avenue. Bell was also
scheduled for a bond hearing for August 17th.
An order was entered on behalf of Brian Daniels who’s charged
with murder, controlled substance endangerment to a child,
manufacturing methamphetamine, and engaging in organized crime
in connection with the death of his toddler son. Daniels case will be
reviewed September 7th.
A pre-trial conference was held for Richard Earl Smith Junior who
faces murder charges in connection with the shooting death of
Samantha Dobbs Rigney and five other counts of wanton endangerment.
Smith will be back in court September 7th.
The trial date of August 23rd was removed from the docket for Don
and Karen Coffey who are charged with several counts of theft by
unlawful taking in connection with thousands of dollars allegedly
being taken from Lees Famous Recipe. The Coffey’s next court
appearance is scheduled for October 19th.
