A two vehicle head on injury collision was reported at 8:32 this (Saturday) morning on KY 90 West at the intersection with KY 1546. One of the drivers was entrapped in the vehicle. Two people were transported by Wayne County EMS.
According to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron, one of the ambulances that responded to the crash was involved in a separate collision shortly after leaving the scene. Deputy Joe Horne tells us the WCEMS unit involved left the scene with a male patient from the collision, enroute to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset. That ambulance, a 2018 Chevy Silverado ambulance being driven by David Simpson, 49, of Somerset, was involved in a collision with a large deer on KY 90 a short distance from the scene.
We’re told the ambulance suffered major damage and was disabled as a result of the deer collision. Deputy Horne said neither SImpson, the attendant, or male patient were injured as a result of the deer vs ambulance crash. (by Johnny Dishman WKYM copyright 2025)
