City Council meets, hears updated Business License Ordinance

The Monticello City Council held its second regular March session last night with Mayor Kenny Catron presiding.

Most of the short meeting was spent hearing the first reading of an Ordinance updating the Business License Fee. The Ordinance sets the rate businesses pay the City to conduct business on Monticello and has not been updated since 1992. Since it was a first reading, no action was taken. The ordinance will be presented at the April meeting of the Council and a possible vote will be held.

In other business, a couple of former Council members were appointed to boards, Tim Pyles to the Code Enforcement Board and Knox Bertram to the Monticello Wayne County Telecommunications Board.
