Ruel “Blackie” Lowforn

Ruel “Blackie” Daniel Love Lowhorn, of Albany, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at the Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset, Kentucky having attained the age of 84 years, 11 months, and 22 days. He was born in the Lees Chapel Community of Clinton County, Kentucky on Thursday, April 11, 1940, the son of Charlie M. and Daisy (Shelley) Lowhorn. He was of the Christian Faith, a member of Peolia Church, and worked in maintenance for Wolf River Dock. Blackie was an avid fisherman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Barry Lowhorn, siblings, Jesse Lowhorn, Thomas Lowhorn, Joe Bob Lowhorn, Carl Lowhorn, John O. Lowhorn, Frederick Lowhorn, Will Ed Lowhorn, James Martin Lowhorn, & Margaret Honeycutt.

     He is survived by his wife, Helen Ruth (Parrish) Lowhorn, whom he wed on Saturday, August 11, 1962, daughter, Tammy (& Tony) Bell, siblings, Homer Lowhorn, Dot Huddleston, Jane Appleby all of Albany, Kentucky, grandchildren, Trent (& Kaitlyn) Groce, Daniel (& Brandi) Lowhorn, Trevor (& Courtney) Groce, Chaston Bell, great-grandchildren, Audri Groce, Alyssa Groce, Millie Lowhorn, Emmy Lowhorn, Hayes Groce, Hudson Groce, and Rayleigh Groce, and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

     A memorial service will be held at a later date.

     Campbell-New Funeral Home of Albany, Kentucky is honored to be in charge of the arrangements.
