Engineers from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet in Frankfort and the District 8 office in Somerset, are actively studying the intersection of KY 90 and KY 92 in Wayne County to identify potential safety improvements.
“Safety in our top priority,” said James Jones, District 8 Chief District Engineer. “By thoroughly studying this intersection, we can make informed decisions about the most effective improvements.”
As traffic volumes continue to rise across the region, so do the challenges associated with maintaining safe and efficient roadways, Jones said. All intersections throughout the district are regularly monitored and all serious crashes are reviewed.
Traffic engineers have been collecting and analyzing a wide range of traffic data at the KY 90 and KY 92 intersection that will guide the development of both short-term and long-term solutions designed to enhance safety and reduce crash risks at this busy intersection. Once final plans are developed a project to construct improvements is slated for the spring of 2026.
Implementation of any proposed solution will be based on current and future traffic needs, engineering analysis, and availability of funding
