Wayne County Fiscal Court meets

Wayne County Fiscal Court in regular session at the Court House with Judge

Executive Scott Gehring and all magistrates present.

Among the highlights….Magistrate Jeff Dishman said county residents pay 34% more for residential

water than city residents pay, In response, Magistrates asked Judge Gehring to communicate to Mayor

Kenny Catron that the prefer 2 magistrates be appointed to the 5 person Monticello

Utility Commission Board

Magistrates approved the amendment to the FY 2025 to reflect an unbudgeted

revenue increase of $527,057.44 with an expenditure of the same amount.

Court also approved the 2nd reading of the FY ‘26 budget totaling $18,258,226 including a Cost Of Living Raise

for county employees. Also included in the budget for the first time ever, is

Hazardous Duty Retirement for the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office

the budget includes:

General Fund $8,644,669

Road Fund $2,346,401

Jail Fund $2,641,456

Local Government Assistance $116,831

Emergency Management $20,568

Timberland Fund $9,041

Natural Gas Fund $4,057,900

National Opioid Settlement $241,810

ABC Fund $54,628

County Clerk Permanent Storage Fees $124,922

The Court appointed Barry Cooper to the Tax Appeal Board,

reappointed Robert Corder to the Tax Appeal Board and

approved Shelbi Mitchel to be ABC Administrator on a Part Time basis.

On request of Judge Gehring, magistrates approved the purchase of a K-9 for

the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office to be paid out of the Opioid Fund of up to

$9,000.

Accepted a proposal for Cybersecurity equipment from Techline Office Supplies

in the amount of $11,980
