Raymond Edward James of Russell Springs, Kentucky passed away Monday, June 16, 2025 at The Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Fort Thomas, Kentucky having attained the age of 93 years, 2 months and 13 days. He was born in Somerset, Kentucky on Sunday, April 3, 1932 the son of Reuben & Emma (Smith) James. He was of the Baptist Faith, a 1950 graduate of Somerset High School, Honorably Served in the U.S. Army attaining the rank of Sgt. First Class, worked 22 years at National Cash Register, 21 years at General Motors and had been farming in Russell County since 1972. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Marjorie (Collins) James, Son, Richard Lee James, daughter, Katherine Ann Carroll, Grandchildren, Heather James & Ryan Gearhard, Step-sons, Timothy Wayne Hosack & Phillip Ray Hosack, Paternal grandparents, John Perry & Lydia (Crowe) James, Maternal grandparents, Ernest & Maggie (Goff) Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Kay (LeMaster) James of Russell Springs, daughter, Margaret Sue Husemen of Fort Thomas, Kentucky, step-son, William Curtis (& Lynn) LeMaster of Madisonville, daughter-in-law, Mona Hosack of Russell Springs, Like a son, James (& Laurie) Reed of Florida, brother, Ernest Smythe (& Judy) James of Russell Springs, grandchildren, Emily Smith, Lindsey Husemen, Morgan (& Jud) Satterwhite, Taylor Husemen (& Tommy), Randy (& Adrienne James, Skyler James, Annika James, great-grandchildren, Cyress Gearhard, Tearrence Gearhard, Clarity Gearhard, Matthew Smith, Makenzie Smith, great-great-grandchildren, Georgeinia Satterwhite, Waylon Kuhlman, Jaxon Gearhard, Theodore Gearhard, step-grandchildren, Jackie, Travis & Amanda, step-great grandchildren, Nathan & Miranda, Niece, Stacey (James) Overly, Nephew, Brian James, great-niece, Sarah Overly, great-nephews, Justin James & Seth Overly, and several cousins & friends.

The funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. C.S.T. in the Chapel of Bernard Funeral Home in Russell Springs, Kentucky, with burial to follow in The Mt. Zion Cemetery in Science Hill, Kentucky. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. C.S.T. Friday, June 20, 2025 at The Bernard Funeral Home in Russell Springs and from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral hour on Saturday.
