Kentucky State Parks invites volunteers to roll up their sleeves and join the Cumberland River Cleanup on Saturday, July 12, from 8:30 a.m. to noon at General Burnside Island State Park. This event aims to protect and preserve the beauty of the Cumberland River, promoting environmental preservation and stewardship.
“This cleanup is a great way for Kentuckians to come together and make a difference in our waterways,” said Kentucky State Parks Commissioner Russ Meyer. “The Cumberland River is an important resource for recreation, wildlife and local communities, and we’re grateful for the public’s involvement in helping to protect it.”
Gloves, trash bags and safety equipment will be provided. Volunteers are encouraged to bring reusable water bottles, to wear closed-toe shoes and to dress appropriately for outdoor activity in hot weather.
