Lieselotte Olga (Rennig) Winings of Monticello, Kentucky passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at the St. Elizabeth Hospital of Edgewood, Kentucky, having attained the age of 89 years, 4 months and 2 days. She was born on Thursday, February 4, 1937, in St. Wendel, Saarland, Germany, the daughter of Albert & Lucille (Voss) Rennig. She was a devout Catholic whose faith remained strong even through the hardship of losing her family members during World War 2. Lilo was a devout homemaker and leaves behind a legacy of deep love and commitment to family and friends. Her home was always open to everyone, and she welcomed all with a warm hug, hot cup of coffee and sweet treat. She had a natural talent for gardening, cooking and knitting. She was quick to make someone’s day by sharing her beautiful flowers, a delicious German meal or a beautiful, knitted blanket. We were all blessed by her warmth, her generosity and the joy that she shared. According to her daughters-in-law, Lilo was “The World’s BEST Mother-in-Law” and was a loving and giving grandmother. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Winings, whom she wed on May 4, 1957; brothers, Hans Rennig, Rudolf Rennig, Edward Rennig, Hermann Rennig, Antounius Rennig, Paul Rennig; and sister Margarete Rennig.
She is survived by her children, Thomas (& Terri) Winings of Seffner, Florida, Dean(& Kathy) Winings of Bluffton, South Carolina, Jeff (& Kara) Winings of Bellevue, Kentucky; grandchildren, Alyssa (& Trevor) Alvarez, Kyle Winings, Keifer (& Kathryn) Winings, and Olivia Winings; great-grandchildren, Isabelle, Gray, Rhys, and Trevor Jr.
The funeral mass will be conducted on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. EST in the St. Peters Catholic Church, 1139 Old Hwy 90, Monticello, KY 42633. The family will receive friends at the church Tuesday, June 16, 2026, beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
