Marvin Everett Delk, of Louisville, Kentucky, formerly of Clinton County, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2026, at his residence in Louisville Kentucky, having attained the age of 79 years, 6 months, and 18 days. He was born on February 6, 1947, in the Duvall Valley Community of Clinton County, Kentucky, the son of Oliver “Bud” & Pauline (Duvall) Delk.
Marvin loved his family and was a hardworking man throughout his life. In his younger years, he worked alongside his siblings in the family fields, tending to the crops, worked in the coal mines, and enjoyed memories of riding in the bed of the family truck on trips to the Smoky Mountains and Cherokee. He spent most of his working life as an auto mechanic. That work ethic remained with him throughout his life as Marvin rarely missed a day of work. He was a straightforward man who would tell you exactly what he thought, but he also had a giving heart and would give you the shirt off his back—and on more than one occasion, he actually did. Marvin loved watching horse racing and NASCAR, with NASCAR being a particular favorite, and enjoyed relaxing in front of the television. Above all, Marvin loved spending time with his daughters, grandchildren, and family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, Pauline (Dicken) Delk, siblings, Patsy Talbott, Mary Lou Terrell, Shirley Hickman, Kenneth Delk, and Charles Eugene Delk.
He is survived by his daughters, Tammy (& Ron) Lady of Louisville, Kentucky, Anna (& David) Mudd of Mauckport, Indiana, and Lisa (& Jamie) Patterson of Fairdale, Kentucky; siblings, Rebecca (& John) Harrod of Louisville, Kentucky, Sue (& Bill) Pierce, Deborah (& Frankie) Smith, Tony (& Virginia) Delk, Johnny (& Jennifer) Delk, Fonzie Dicken, all of Albany, Kentucky, Cathy (& Steve) Barrie of Sacramento, California, Sheila (& Don) Abbott of Byrdstown, Tennessee, Lisa Delk of Albany, Kentucky, grandchildren, Brandon, Adam, Ben, Brent, Taylor, Dalton, Taryn, Destiny, and Jamie Jr.; great-grandchildren, Memphis, Easton, Cayden, Wesley, Hunter, Charlotte, Korbynn, Brooks, Oakley, Callan, Tenley, Paisley; along with many nieces nephews, other family and friends.
The funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. CST in the Memory Chapel of Campbell-New Funeral Home with Bro. Greg Wells officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 28, 2026, from 10:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. and again from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.. The visitation will also continue on Saturday morning beginning at 7:00 A.M., with family receiving friends after 10:00 A.M. until the funeral hour. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Clinton County Kentucky.
