Carl Dee Pyles of Monticello, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2026, at the Wayne County Hospital in Monticello, Kentucky, having attained the age of 78 years, 6 months, and 1 day. He was born on Friday, February 20, 1948, in the Slickford community of Wayne County, Kentucky, the son of Willie “Bill” & Nannie (Hicks) Pyles. He was a member of Old Union Separate Baptist Church and was a self-employed carpenter. Carl was a hardworking man who enjoyed working, building, and farming. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Paula “Pearl” Dishman, Ruby Renour, Brenda Carter, Linda Mae Pyles; brothers, Kenneth Pyles, and Hershel Pyles.
He is survived by his wife, Leta (Piercy) Pyles, whom he wed on March 15, 1966; children, Steven (& Lisa) Pyles, Twila (& Terry) Massengale, Alicia (& Andrew) Burks, all of Monticello, Kentucky; siblings, Clyde (& Darlene) Pyles, Jeweline (& Barry) McGinnis, Judy (& Dennis) Stinson, Mary (& Arnold) McGinnis, Roger (& Jan) Pyles, Gary (& Theresa) Pyles, Lisa (& Paul) McGinnis, all of Monticello, Kentucky; grandchildren, Jackson (& Meredith) Massengale, Kadee-Anna Dishman (& Jimbo Hawkins), Oliver Burks, Ellie Burks, Matilda Burks; great-grandchildren, Ryan Dishman, Fount Hawkins, Jude Massengale, and Brooks Massengale.
The funeral service will be conducted on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at 3:00 P.M. EST in the Memory Chapel of New’s Monticello Funeral Home with Bro. Matthew Dalton officiating and special singing. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 23, 2026, after 12:00 noon EST until the funeral hour. Burial will follow in the Pyles Cemetery in the Slickford community of Wayne County, Kentucky.
