City Council meets, hears street legal “Special Purpose Vehicle” Ordinance

The Monticello City Council met last night with all members and Mayor Kenny Catron presiding.

The Council heard a first reading of an Ordinance that would allow Special Purpose Vehicles on the streets of Monticello. No action was taken as it was a first reading.

It was announced the sale of Alcoholic Beverages for the month of July was $464,980, the highest one month total since alcohol became legal in the City of Monticello. The CIty also collected $21,516 in regulatory fees on alcohol in July.

The City’s Tourism Commission collected $50,973 in Restuarant taxes in August.

In the Monticello Utility Commission report, Manager Scott Upchurch reported revenues for August of $656,679, with expenditures of $613,647.

The Council held a 30 minute executive session at the beginning of the meeting.
