At 3:01 this (Sunday) morning, an armed robbery occurred at Murphy’s Fuel Station, located at 36 Cumberland Crossing in Monticello.
Monticello Police say a male entered the business, pointed a gun at the store manager, demanded cash, cigarettes, and fuel. The male then fled, headed west on the KY 90 Bypass, driving a truck that had allegedly been stolen from a home on Highway 1275 North earlier Sunday morning.
The stolen truck was spotted by a Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputy, and a pursuit began by the Sheriff’s Office and Monticello Police. The pursuit continued on Highway 90 through Clinton County into Burkesville, where the pursuit was handed over to Kentucky State Police. Troopers continued the pursuit into Adair County on KY 61, where the precision immobilization technique (PIT) maneuver was executed, and spike strips were deployed effectively ending the pursuit.
