Edward Kent “Eddie” James of Eubank, Kentucky passed away suddenly Thursday, December 26, 2024 having attained the age of 57 years, 11 months & 1 day. He was born in Somerset (Pulaski County) Kentucky at the old Somerset City Hospital on Wednesday, January 25, 1967 the son of James Hughes & Janice Ann (James) New. He attended The Cowboy Church on West Highway 80, was a graduate of Pulaski County High School, class of 1986, was a lifelong farmer, loved cattle and died doing what he loved at the Rakestraw Farm on highway 39, and was employed at The Somerset Community College. He was preceded in death by his Mother, and Maternal grandparents, Fred & Hazel (Adams) James.
He is survived by his daughter, Frances Grace James of Wyoming, his son, Christopher Clay James of North Dakota, his former wife and mother of his children, Sarah Jones, brothers, Mark C. (& Robin) New of Burkesville, Kentucky, David Scott (& Misty) New of Science Hill, Kentucky, Aunts, Judy James Vaught of Eubank, Lana James Cassada & Margaret Jasper James both of Somerset, Special Friends & adopted family, “Happy” & Connie Rakestraw of Somerset, a host of cousins, and many friends.
The funeral service will be conducted on Friday, January 3, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. E.S.T. at The Cowboy Church, 4291 West Highway 80, Somerset, Kentucky (Suits Us Farm). Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Science Hill, Kentucky. The body will lie in repose & the family will receive friends after 5 p.m. Thursday, January 2, 2025 at The Cowboy Church until the funeral hour on Friday. Memorials may be directed to his children, or Mt. Zion Cemetery in his memory.
