Investigation Leads to Business Owner Charged with Trafficking in Marijuana

According to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron, an ongoing
investigation by multiply agencies including the Kentucky Alcohol
Beverage Control Agency, Wayne County Sheriff Office and the
Monticello Police Department into the illegal sales of narcotics here in
Monticello and Wayne County has resulted in a local business owner
being arrested for trafficking in marijuana.
The investigation was led by Kentucky Alcohol Beverage Control Officer
Mike Nunley. During the investigation and large amount of a “bud”
flowery material pre-rolled product “joints” were found for sale at the
Highway 90 Shell at the By Pass 90/East KY 92 intersection. During the investigation Officer Nunley obtained a Wayne County District Court Complaint Warrant of Arrest pertaining to
the investigation for business owner Ravindra Patel of Somerset, Ky. for
the charge of trafficking in marijuana (less than 8 ounces). Patel is the
owner of several local businesses including the Highway 90 Shell, the
Lucky 7 Vape shop and other businesses as well.
On January 22, 2025, after a meeting with Patel Wayne County Sheriff
Office Deputy James Barnett served and arrested Patel on the
Complaint Warrant and was lodged in the Wayne County Detention
Center. Patel was released from the Detention Center after signing a
Personal Bond.
The investigation is continuing.
