Iris Elaine “Laine” (Dobbs) Tucker of Monticello, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at the Wayne County Hospital in Monticello, Kentucky. After a hard-fought journey with her health, inspiring everyone with her will and determination; she attained the age of 73 years, 4 months and 20 days. She was born on Monday, March 24, 1952, in Wayne County, Kentucky, the daughter of Guy L. & Thelma Alice (Gregory) Dobbs. She was of the Baptist faith and a lifelong member of Canada Creek Baptist Church. A proud graduate of Wayne County High School, Class of 1970, and looking forward to the upcoming 55th class reunion. She began her career in shipping and receiving at Cumberland Apparel before working for Beldon on the manufacturing line and in the accounting department. She later retired from Chrysler in Kokomo, Indiana, alongside her husband on the same day, a company first, after years of dedicated service. Laney, as she was affectionally know to those close to her, was a true saint to everyone, giving both grace and kindness to anyone she met. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband and childhood sweetheart, David Allen Tucker, whom she wed on July 27, 1970, and sister, Linda Lou (Dobbs) Watkins.
She is survived by her children, Joey Allen (& Larissa) Tucker, Shawn David Tucker (& Rachel Chriswell), brother-in-law, Ronnie Watkins, grandchildren, Haylee Reagan Tucker, Angel Tucker, Jenna Tucker, Shaylee Tucker, nephews, Ronnie Jr. (& Jeanie) Watkins, Tim (& Kara) Watkins, many special cousins, other dear family members and life long friends.
The funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. E.S.T. in the Memory Chapel of New’s Monticello Funeral Home in Monticello, Kentucky with Bro. Joey Allen officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, beginning at 5:00 p.m., and again at 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday until the funeral hour. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery in Monticello, Kentucky. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Wayne County Rescue Squad, whose services once rescued Elaine’s husband, David.
