According to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron, an investigation into
damage totaling over $5,100.00 to a farm tractor has resulted in two
juveniles being charged.
The investigation was conducted by Deputy James Barnett after he
responded to a farm located on Taylors Grove Church Road on January
28, 2025, for a criminal mischief complaint. Upon arrival Deputy
Barnett learned from the owner that his John Deere tractors’ front and
rear windows had been shot out. On January 29, 2025, Deputy Barnett
was contacted by the owner stating he had received information about
who may have been involved, which was a juvenile. Deputy Barnett
then contacted that juvenile and later a second juvenile who was also
believed to be involved. After questioning both juveniles with their
parents present Deputy Barnett learned the two were out riding around
looking to shoot out a car window. When they drove down Taylors
Grove Church Road then noticed the tractor sitting in front of a barn.
One juvenile then shot multiple rounds from a .22 caliber rifle from the
passenger side of the vehicle causing the damage.
Deputy Barnett then charged both juveniles and referred this case to
the Kentucky Court Designate Workers Office. One juvenile was
charged with criminal mischief-1st degree with the second juvenile
being charged with criminal mischief-1st degree (complicity).
