The Monticello Utility Commission met for it’s regular monthly session Thursday.
The main topic of discussion was a serious lack of water in the City of Monticello the last two weekends. The commission and department heads discussed the situation in length. The summer heat and increased use of water caused the holding tanks on Buster Mountain to drop to dangerous levels. The recent addition of homes and businesses in Monticello has also contributed to the problem. This was a situation in the City only as it is supplied by the Buster Mountain Tanks. It is a very serious situation that could effect fire protection in the city according to the discussion held yesterday. A large fire, or a large line break could cause major problems to the water supply.
In other action at the meeting, August revenues of $722,775 were reported with expentitures of $698,043 foir the month.
The commissioners voted to purchase UV Bulbs to be used in the water treatment process at a cost of $196,000 contingent on the supplying company install the bulbs
