Virginia (Smith) Farmer of Albany, Kentucky passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at the Jean Waddle Care Center of the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky. She was born in the Bow Community of Cumberland County, Kentucky, the daughter of Marvin Cartwright & Cleo (Groce) Smith.
She was of the Methodist faith and a lifelong member of Liberty Methodist Church and attended Peolia Church. Virginia was a loving Christian woman whose kind spirit and warm smile could light up any room. She sought to share the love and light of Jesus Christ with everyone she met.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Harlan Farmer, whom she wed on July 14, 1949; sister, Martha Lewis; and niece, Linda Clark.
She is survived by her sister, Joan Smith (& Barry) Breland of Albany, Kentucky; nephews, Greg M. Wells of Burkesville, Kentucky, John Lewis of Danville, Kentucky; niece, Whitney (& Stephen) Westover of Ashburn, Virginia; great-nephew, Cameron Smith Dillon; and great-niece, Delaney Jane Dillon.
The funeral service will be conducted on Monday, June 22, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. in the Memory Chapel of Campbell-New Funeral Home in Albany, Kentucky with Bro. Larry Spears officiating, eulogy by Judge David Williams. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 21, 2026, beginning at 6:00 P.M. and again on Monday morning after 6:00 A.M. until the funeral hour. Burial will follow in the Peolia Cemetery in Clinton County, Kentucky.
