Wayne Sheriff’s Department Arrests Fugitive

According to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron a Monticello man has been
arrested on drug related charges and on active arrest warrants.

The Monticello man was a fugitive from justice that the United States
Federal Marshall Service with the assistance of the Wayne County Sheriff
Office, and the Monticello Police Department attempted to located last
week which were unable to locate at that time.

On September 9, 2026, at approximately 11:20 PM, Wayne County Sheriff
Office Deputies Zachary Bybee and Deputy Nick Bertram located the man
in an upstairs bedroom at a residence located on the Frank Bell Road.


Deputies were able to take the man into custody without any resistance.
While conducting a search incident to the arrest Deputies located a small
amount of suspected methamphetamine inside a drug paraphernalia item.
Deputy Bybee charged and arrested Charles W. Bailey of Monticello, KY.
for possession of a controlled substance-1 st degree (methamphetamine),
and possession of drug paraphernalia. Deputy Bybee also served and
arrested Bailey on a Wayne County Circuit Court Warrant of Arrest for
Probation Violation on the underlying charges of assault-1 st degree
(complicity), assault-2 nd degree (complicity), tampering with physical
evidence (complicity), persistent felony offender-1 st degree, persistent
felony offender-2 nd degree (enhanced) and on a Wayne County District
Court Complaint Warrant of Arrest for assault-4 th degree (domestic
violence), unlawful imprisonment-1 st degree, and menacing.


Bailey was lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
