According to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron a Wayne County man
has been charged for attempted murder.
On June 18,2025, at approximately 10 pm Deputies Brad Tucker, Allen
Cash and Jerry Coffey were dispatched to a residence located on Ky
Highway 776 for an intoxicated male firing multiple gun shots inside his
residence with family members inside and at his neighbors.
Once on scene the Deputies cleared the surrounding residences and
located the male’s family members were no longer inside the residence
and were safe. At that point Deputies setup a perimeter around the
residence and began given the male verbal commands to exit his
residence. Numerous attempts were made with no response. Once
Sheriff Catron was on scene verbal commands continued
unsuccessfully. Deputies with the Sheriff made a forceable entry into
the residence and located the male in an upstairs bedroom very
intoxicated. The male refused to follow verbal commands and then
started resisting arrest and was then tazed. The male was then taken
into custody.
Multiple guns were located inside the residence with one being under
an upstairs child’s bed. Multiple spent ammo rounds were found
throughout the residence with multiple bullet holes observed in walls
and through windows.
At a next-door neighbor’s residence more bullet holes were found in an
outside wall with one being in a front porch post which was within 2 or
3 feet of where the neighbor was standing when the shot was fired.
Deputy Tucker charged and arrested Garry W. Maziarz of Monticello,
KY. for 1 count of attempted murder and 1 count of wanton
endangerment-1 st degree (discharge of a firearm).
Maziarz was lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center under a
$100,000.00 cash or 2 times property value Bond.
The investigation continues with possible more criminal charges
pending.
