WFLW is celebrating its 70th year on the air today. WFLW signed on the air on May 19, 1955 at 1570 on the dial, and soon after increased power and moved to the current 1360 on the dial. Many thanks to the listeners and advertisers over the 70 years.
WFLW’s original staff, James Shacklette, Charlene Conley, Katy Lou Jones, Harold Rogers, Nancy Roberts, Ed Brandon, Howard York, Bob Fairchild, Jack Cooper, Maurice Worsham and Reid Huckaby.
Fred Staples purchased the station soon after it went on the air in 1955, and it has been in family ownership since.
