Geneva (Coffey) Baker of Monticello, Kentucky passed away on Wednesday. June 17, 2026 at The Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky having attained the age of 92 years, 1 month & 12 days. She was born on Saturday, May 5, 1934 in Wayne County, Kentucky, the daughter of Oscar Hardin & Lizzie Mae (Keeton) Coffey. She was of the Baptist Faith, a member of First Baptist Church in Monticello, worked at Byrd’s, Monticello Shirt Factory, & Kennedy’s Clothing Store. She was a true artist in the making of Beautiful Quilts she stitched her entire life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband, Wilburn “Don” Baker whom she wed on Friday, December 19, 1958 and who passed on March 16, 2021; her siblings, Elwood Coffey, Edward Coffey, Billy Coffey, Christine Coffey Chriswell, & Raymond Coffey.
She is survived by her Son, Gary (& Tammy) Baker; Grandson, Simon Garrison Baker; Sisters, Elneda (Coffey) Craig & Sue (Coffey) Stockton; all of Monticello, Kentucky. Several Nieces & Nephews, and In-laws, both on the Coffey & Baker sides of the family.
The funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. EST in the Memory Chapel of New’s Monticello Funeral Home with Bro. Mark Helton (her pastor) officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 22, 2026, beginning at 5:00 p.m., and again on Tuesday morning from 7:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
