Parks and Rec Board meets

Monticello-Wayne County Parks and Recreation Board met Tuesday evening with
Chairman Judge Executive Scott Gehring, Vice Chairman Mayor Kenny Catron.

Board members unanimously agreed to begin searching for a pickup truck for Director
Shane Blevins, who has been using his personal vehicle for work-related duties. The
board hopes to find a vehicle for $20,000 or less.

A request from newly hired part time County Tourism Director Emily Conley to use the
Aspire Center board room as a dedicated office was denied. Chairman Gehring said
the room is intended for shared community use and cannot be reserved exclusively for
one department.

Blevins reported delays in construction of the new tennis court due to weather and
other issues, but work is expected to resume sometime in July. The board also
approved the addition of two security cameras in the park.

Financially, the Parks and Recreation Department reported a solid month in May. Total
revenue reached $11,233. Concession sales generated the largest share of income at
$3,773, while credit card sales added another $2,415. The Aspire Center pool brought
in $1,200, and leagues and sponsorship accounted for $2,440. Additional smaller
revenue sources made up the balance.
