Anthony Dwayne James of the Shady Grove Community in Pulaski County, Kentucky passed away at his residence, Saturday July 11, 2026 having attained the age of 61 years, 8 months & 7 days. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on Wednesday, November 4, 1964 the son of Narval Leo & Margaret (Jasper) James. He was of the Baptist Faith, a graduate of George Washington High School in Indianapolis, class of 1983, a lifelong farmer, factory worker, having been employed by Crane Plumbing mfg. and U G N both in Ferguson. He loved country life, Cattle, Dogs, Hunting, Horse riding & watching any kind of sports…mostly rooting for Indiana. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his nephew, David Allen West; Brother-in-law, Ricky Allen West; Paternal Grandparents, Fred & Hazel (Adams) James; Maternal Grandparents, Elmer & Grace (Wallace) Jasper.
He is survived by his mother, Margaret (Jasper) James of Somerset; his sisters, Dana Marie (& Darren) Hill of Somerset, Hazel Donette West of Eubank; Nieces & Nephews, Lucas (& Brittany) Mofield, Justin Mofield (& Bobbie Jo), Whitney (& Wes) Tackett, Emily Grace Mofield, Harper West; Great Nieces & Nephews, Sam Mofield, Eli Tackett, Lucy Mofield, Laynee Mofield, Adalynn Tackett & James Mofield; Aunts, Judy (James) Vaught, Lana (James) Cassada, Linda (Hitchcock) Jasper Crouthers; Uncle, Larry Martin; several cousins and other relatives both on the James & Jasper sides of his family.
The funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, July 16, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. E.S.T. in the Chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home at Science Hill, Kentucky with Bro. Lester Randolph & Bro. Chuck Woodcock officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Science Hill. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, at Morris & Hislope.
