Huey Abbott passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, reaching the age of 75 years. He was born April 2, 1951, in Monticello, Wayne County, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Oscar Abbott and the late Evelyn Dishman Abbott Smith. He was born into a family of 11. Huey loved all his family and friends.
He is survived by his son, Michael Huey Abbott (Kathreen Foust); one sister, Margie Crabtree; and granddaughter Whitney Powell-Hicks (Greg); grandson, Brandon Powell (Erin); son-in-law, J.B. Powell (Lisa); and two great-grandchildren, Preston Hicks and Charlotte Ann Hicks. He is also survived by his ex-wife and mother of his children, Maggie Anna Duncan (Cornelius); Thomas Smith, who was like a son; special companion, Norma Smith; sisters-in-law, Barbara Abbott and Katy Abbott; several nephews and nieces; along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, between 11 am and 1 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at 1 pm at the Hickey Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery with Bishop Cornelius Duncan officiating
