New Connector Route at Burnside Elementary Opens to Traffic in Pulaski County

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 8 announces the opening of a new connector route along KY 1247 at the new Burnside Elementary School in Pulaski County. The project, located just north of the U.S. 27 cloverleaf at Burnside, is now open to traffic.

The new connector includes right-in, right-out intersections and road connections to KY 1247 at C Vanhook Road and near Richardson Lane. These improvements provide safer and more efficient access between KY 1247, Rock Hill Drive (which serves Burnside Elementary), and surrounding local routes.

As part of the project, left turns have been eliminated at the existing C Vanhook Road intersection on KY 1247. This change reduces collision risks, improves traffic flow, and helps ease congestion in the area.

Motorists can view a virtual reality tour of the project, showcasing the new roadway design and future traffic flow, at https://aecomvr.com/BurnsideConnector.

The $4.38 million project was completed by RAME Contracting, LLC, under contract with KYTC.
