The Wayne County Public Library Board met in regular session Wednesday
afternoon with Chairperson Sandra Riddle and members Katina Shearer,
Barbara Turpin, and Wanda Gregory present along with Director Logan
Anderson.
During the meeting, the board approved hiring a temporary, part-time staff
member for the summer season. The position will run from May 27th through
August 14th, with applications being accepted April 22nd through May 6th
.
In the monthly report, Director Anderson highlighted strong achievements in
March, with over 5,300 books circulated, more than 100 ancestry searches, and
nearly 200 online sessions for the archived Wayne County Outlook. Programs
also saw high turnout, including Family Literacy Night with 128 participants and
an Outdoor Movie Night drew 89 attendees. The library also continues to offer a
Hospice Grief Group for adults 18 and older. Anderson reminded board
members that the always popular Summer Reading Program will begin May 28th
for adults and May 29th for teens and children.
In financial updates, Anderson informed the board that following an April 1st
payment of $14,152 toward the library building loan, approximately $1.3 million
is still owed. As of March 31, the library has $2,466,873 in total funds in the
bank.
The next meeting of the Library Board is scheduled for May 20th at 4 p.m. at the
library.
