Primary Election races set in Wayne County

The deadline has passed for candidates to file for the upcoming May Primary Election.

Several Incumbents will be unopposed, including County Judge Executive Scott Gehring, County Court Clerk Heather Morrow Peircy,, PVA Bobby Upchurch, Jailer Ronnie Ellis, and Coroner Gordon Hicks.

Two Primary elections will be held in County wide races and all Magistrates are opposed.

For County Attorney, Republicans Rhett Ramsey and Travis Wayne Bell will be on the ballot while incumbent Sheriff Tim Catron will be opposed by Cody Neal.

For Magistrate in District one, Incumbent Ronnie Turner will be opposed by Eddie Norfleet

District 2 Magistrate Jeff Dishman will be opposed by Scottie Wayne Hicks and Bobby Dwaine Stinson

In District 3, Wade Dick will be challenged by Ray C. Upchurch and Austin Vaughn. David Bell is the only Democrat on the Ballot in Wayne County and he will be unopposed on the Magistrate District 3 Ballot

District 4 magistrate Jonathon Dobbs will be opposed by Mathew Mills and James B. Sloan.

For Constable in District one, Robert Riddle is unopposed

Several candidates will be on the Constable District 2 Ballot. .Danny Wallace, Jimmy Dishman, Keith Cash, Rodney Lowe, and Calvin Jackson Kennett the third.

Elijah Sexton is unopposed in Constable District 3.

For Constable in District 4, Austin Ramsey is unopposed.

The Race for 52nd State Representative will have Kevin Jones and Micah Jonah Neal on the ballot for the position that covers Wayne, McCreary, and a portion of Pulaski Counties

For District Judge 40th District Division 1, Incumbent Scarlett Latham is unopposed, and in Division 2 it will be Tom Simmons, Lee Whittenburg, and Athena Cooper Bradshaw. The District Judge’s position covers Wayne, Clinton , and Russell Counties.
