Sally Gay (Piercy) Brummett of Monticello, Kentucky passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Wayne County Hospital in Monticello, Kentucky, having attained the age of 79 years, 6 months, and 7 days. She was born on Tuesday, November 5, 1946, in Wayne County, Kentucky, the daughter of Raymond Taft & Rosie Mae (Denney) Piercy. Sally was of the Baptist faith and worked at the Anchor Motel for many years. She loved fishing and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Ray Brummett whom she wed on July 17, 1965; siblings, Billy, Willie, Milton, Jep, Johnny, Bobby, Jackie, and Betty.
She is survived by her daughters, Jimmie Gay Brummett and Rosa Ann Brummett both of Monticello, Kentucky, sister, Lilly Pearl Brown of Monticello, Kentucky, grandchildren, Amanda (& Loren) Eaton, Joe Shelton, Adam (& Tyra) Shelton, and Emily Decker, great-grandchildren, Audrey, Dylan, Archer, Nora, Orion, Caelum, and Duane.
The funeral service will be conducted on Monday, May 18, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. EST in the Memory Chapel of New’s Monticello Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Monday, May 18, 2026, beginning at 9:00 a.m. EST until the funeral hour. Burial will be in Taylor’s Grove Cemetery in Wayne County, Kentucky.
