WC Sheriff’s Office makes drug bust and arrest

According to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron the Sheriff’s Office continuing fight against the illegal sales of drugs and the epidemic of here has resulted in another drug trafficking arrest.

This undercover investigation was conducted by Wayne County Sheriff Office Deputy Nick Bertram. Through Deputy Bertram’s investigation he obtained information that the illegal narcotic methamphetamine was being sold at a residence located on the Tim Frost Road. Deputy Bertram was able to obtain a search warrant for that residence from his efforts. At approximately 9:30 pm, on January 13, 2025, Deputy Bertram with the assistance of Deputies Valis Smedley, Casey Lang and Brad Tucker executed the search warrant. The search resulted in approximately 19 grams of methamphetamine, digital scales, a glass smoking pipe commonly used with illegal narcotics along with $1,487.00 in cash being seized.

Deputy Bertram charged and arrested Raymond K. Nevels of Monticello, KY. for trafficking in a controlled substance-1st degree-2nd or greater offense (greater than or equal to 2 grams of methamphetamine), and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Nevels was taken to the Wayne County Hospital for a medical clearance and was then lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
