WC Sheriff’s office seizes 1.63 pounds of Meth, Richmond KY man arrested

According to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron, the Sheriff Office
continuous efforts with uncover investigations into the sale of
illegal narcotics has resulted in another arrest.

On October 4, 2025, Deputy Nick Bertram’s undercover
investigation led him to believe that a large amount of
methamphetamine would be transported into Wayne County on
this date. At approximately 2:30 pm, Deputy Bertram with the
assistance of Deputy Zachery Bybee and his Deputy K-9 Chaos
observed their target vehicle traveling West on Kentucky Highway
90 in the Frazier community. Deputies Bertram and Bybee
conducted a traffic stop on that vehicle. While speaking to the
vehicle’s male operator a consent for a search was obtained from
him without the use of Deputy K-9 Chaos. During this search
Deputies located a grocery store type bag in the back seat area
which contained a large bag of a crystal type substance that was
believed to be the illegal narcotic methamphetamine. The crystal
substance and a total of $600.00 in cash were seized during the
search.

Deputy Bertram charged and arrested 53 year old Franklin T. Hamilton of
Richmond, Ky. for trafficking in a controlled substance-1 st degree-
2 nd offense.

Hamilton was taken to the Wayne County Sheriff Office for
processing and was later lodged in the Wayne County Detention
Center. While at the Sheriff’s Office the bag of the crystal
substance tested positive as being methamphetamine using the
Tru-Narc Narcotic Analysis Instrument with a total weight of 1.63
pounds.

The investigation is continuing with additional arrest pending.
